HDR Video Inspection of Sewer and Water Drain Pipes
At CPR, we have a simple, three-step process that’s designed to make pipe repair as simple as possible for you. We pride ourselves on eliminating the need for digging, demolition, and disruption.
The first step is inspecting pipes. In this article, you’ll learn more about how these inspections work: what you should expect during the process, what we look for, and when we recommend these inspections to our clients.
How Does HDR Video Inspection Work?
HDR video inspection is designed to be as simple as possible for you. Essentially, one of our experts will come to your location and determine what drain can be used to snake the camera in. The camera has an LED light attached to it, which allows us to see exactly where the problem or problems are occurring.
We’ll use a viewing monitor to watch the camera as it snakes through the pipe, but this video is also recorded. You can then access this video later if you have any questions about the state of your piping.
Do You Need HDR Video Inspection?
In most situations, the advantages of HDR video inspection will be clear. Whether you’re having a one-off problem with your piping or it’s an issue that keeps occurring, an inspection is the first step you need to take. However, aside from solving emergencies or longer-lasting problems, video inspections can also be useful when you’re buying a property for the first time. This allows you to avoid any unexpected problems that aren’t accounted for in the price of the property.

Advanced Sewer Drain Pipe Cleaning Solutions
Advanced Cleaning Solutions
Once we've inspected your pipes and identified the problem, we may recommend cleaning your pipes to remove any buildup or obstructions. Our advanced drain cleaning techniques, including mechanical and hydro-jet cleaning, ensure that your pipes are restored to optimal condition, improving their overall performance and longevity.
Hydrojet drain cleaning
Hydro jets force high-pressure water through the drain, which allows us to break down the build-up currently causing problems. The pressure is high enough to handle all kinds of build-up, including tree roots.
Before cleaning your drains with a hydro jet, we’ll need to inspect it. Because this an extremely effective, high-powered technique, it’s not good for weaker pipes.
Mechanical drain cleaning
Mechanical drain cleaning, also known as scraping, is useful if the deposits in your pipe have calcified and are extremely difficult to remove. Essentially, we insert a device into the drain. It then moves through the pipe, scraping away all of the build-up.
Because it doesn’t require water to flow through your drain, it’s especially important if other methods are proving ineffective. It’s one of the more corrosive forms of drain cleaning since we’re scraping the pipe, which is why we need to pair this technique with our cured-in-place pipe replacement technique.
Why is drain cleaning important?
There are a number of reasons why you may need to get your drain cleaned. We’ll perform an inspection to make sure, but various types of build-up are often responsible for draining problems, since the water is unable to move past the build-up in an efficient manner.
We also need to clean your drain before using our cured-in-place pipe replacement method. This is because your current pipe needs to be at its proper diameter, and our materials need to be able to properly attach to it.
In some situations, you may be able to clean your drain yourself with a snake. However, hydro-jets and mechanical drain cleaning are both stronger, more advanced solutions that need to be performed by a professional plumber.
CIPP Lining: A Modern and Efficient Pipe Repair Solution
For more significant piping problems, we offer Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining services. This innovative technique allows us to repair or replace damaged pipes without the need for excavation, saving you time and money. CIPP lining is a durable and long-lasting solution that can restore your pipes to a like-new condition, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow for years to come.
Cured-In-Place Pipe Lining in Dayton, Ohio
Are you having trouble getting your pipes to drain? If so, pipe replacement can be a costly, messy process. It means having to dig up old pipes, which means ruining the ground above the pipe. This can necessitate having landscapers come in, not to mention the labor costs involved in digging up the area where the faulty pipe is.
All of this work requires a lot of time and energy, which translates to a high cost. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a better way? CPR offers Cured-In-Place-Pipe lining, which is designed to eliminate corroded, cracked pipes that decrease flow rate due to build-up.
Below, we’ll explain what you need to understand about the process: what it is, how it works, and why CPR is Dayton, Ohio’s CIPP lining company of choice.
How does Cured-In-Place-Pipe lining work?
Before we begin installing the pipe, we’ll want to investigate your current one to determine the cause of the problem. This allows us to confirm the size, condition, and layout of your existing drain pipe to make sure that Cured-In-Place-Pipe lining is the best solution for you.
If we’ve determined that your piping system is a good candidate for Cured-In-Place-Pipe lining, we’ll clean your old pipe out to ensure that the new lining can attach itself properly to the existing piping.
At that point, we will custom-make the liner for your project. This is done through a process called “Wetting Out” a commercial-grade fiberglass mesh liner with a two-part, 100% solids epoxy. This liner will then have a bladder pulled inside of it and folded over and pulled in place in your pipe.
Once in place, the bladder is inflated to 20 PSI and left to cure out for 3-4 hours. After curing is complete, the bladder is deflated and removed, and you are left with a brand-new structural pipe equivalent to a PVC schedule 40 pipe.
As you can see on our site, the results make a major difference: instead of a system that’s full of roots, build-up, and other problems that are preventing your pipe from draining, your new system will be smooth and ready to withstand the rigors of time.
This is a great convenience for our residential clients, but it’s even more important for our commercial ones: you don’t want your employees or customers to have the wrong impression of your business due to a faulty piping system. That allows undesirable odors in your facility or back-ups that can cause thousands of dollars of damage and loss of income due to closures.
